Lactic acid is a vegan fruit acid. Dull, bristly hair is characterized by open cuticles. Lactic acid helps to close the cuticle by reducing the pH. Lactic acid thus smoothes the surface of the hair and gives it shine and smoothness. The hair is also reinforced and strengthened.
